Trail secures €1.45M pre-seed to build the go-to AI governance copilot

Munich-based AI governance startup Trail has raised €1.45M in a pre-seed round led by CapitalT, with participation from NP-Hard Ventures, Mozilla Ventures, Common Magic, and angel investors.

As AI development accelerates and global regulations tighten, trust and compliance are more critical than ever. Trail is building the AI governance copilot—a developer-first solution designed to streamline governance workflows, automate compliance, and enable scalable, responsible AI development.

Trail’s platform aggregates, structures, and analyzes AI project data, bridging the gap between technical teams and regulatory requirements. Their free self-assessment tool helps businesses determine the risk class and obligations of the EU AI Act for any AI use case.
